Bells

Bells toll in the distance of perhaps a thousand miles, But I hear them Through the threads I have painted for years from here to their symphonies, Separated but only By bridges of streams; My fingers hover over the lines, Perhaps afraid to snip their silence; I can feel the water over my head now, My hair curling to flakes of snow, But the bells ring on, Now and then embracing the hum of trains, In a distance Hopefully closer to home this time;
